This loop hike is the longest route through the lightly used Singing Woods Nature Preserve located just north of Peoria Illinois. 700 acres of deep forest make this a must do trip if you enjoy up and down hiking with old growth tree cover. Turn by Turn Directions – Clockwise
mile 0.0 START Park at the Tawny Oaks Station parking lot located just off W Singing Woods Road. To locate Tawny Oaks off W Singing Woods Road, you will want to watch for a mail box #715 by a fence with twin stone stone pillar/posts. After parking in the first lot, proceed to the Singing Woods trailhead which is well marked and just past the picnic shelter. Head down the trail. You are on Forest Trail. The milage for the turns listed below are approximate. The trail is well marked with both mile markers ever 0.5 miles and trail map signposts along the route. This route is in the CLOCKWISE direction.
mile 0.2 Turn left on Hill Praire Path.
mile 0.4 Turn left on Shagbark Trail
mile 0.54 Turn left on Sycamore Trail
mile 1.8 Bear left at the next turn. It will be Skunk Cabbage Trail
mile 2.45 Turn left at next fork in tral
mile 2.9 Turn left at Shagbark Trail
mile 3.3 Turn left at Hill Prairie Pat
mile 3.5 Turn left onto Forest Trail
mile 4.0 END. Make your way back to the parking lot where you started.
