Trail to Camp Wokanda

An out an back trail of 4.4 miles in round trip distance on a section of the Illinois River Bluff trail which connects Robinson Park with Camp Wokanda. This trail has a good amount of elevation change, but not as as much as the section of trail from Robinson south to Detweiler Park. You could also start and end from Camp Wokanda which can be accessed off Boy Scout Road north of Peoria. The camp itself is now managed by the Peoria Park District. The trail does not offer many views, but does offer several side trails should you want to extend your hiking distance.

Turn by Turn Directions – (out and back – directions are northbound)

mile 0.0 START- Follow the trail into the woods which is immediately north of the parking lot. There will be a sign with a map posted on a pedestal.

mile 0.15 – turn left at the fork, following the round or teardrop shapped Illinois River Bluff Trail Markers (see above)

mile 0.7 – turn right at the 3 way intersection

mile 1.2 – begin decent down long series of stairs

mile 1.5 – turn right at an intersection near old boy scout camp site “Navajo”

mile 2.1 – you will turn left as you pass by a bunkhouse cabin “Blackfeet”

mile 2.2 – parking lot with restroom facilities
